An ultrasonic sensor can be used to identify a crack in a railway track by not receiving the track's echo;

if the track's echo is received, the crack is not identified.

Generally, Ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the crack in the rail track with measuring the distance from track to sensor. Ultrasonic technique is the most effective method which detects cracks on a railway track. An android application will be developed to intimate about the rail cracks.

I appreciate your response and it's correct that Ultrasonic sensors work well on the track's crack detection.

However, it does not seem to work with Drones, which is what I exactly am looking for.

I am looking for a sensor apart from a normal RGB camera, that can be mounted on a drone and can detect the cracks.

Your insights over this will be much appreciated and helpful.
