My name is Hagos Meles. I have BSc. Degree in Computer Engineering. I have been worked in database and GIS (geographical Information System) related fields in the past 5 years. Now I am studying master's degree in computer science in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In the next semester I have to submit my proposal for my research area.
In Asmara (capital city of my country Eritrea) cadaster office database management system have not Geodatabase to include geographical information of the building, roads and other infrastructure of the city. Due to this it is difficult to find the exact location of a specific building or other infrastructure. I want to design geodatabase for this cadaster office as my master’s research topic to overcome the above problem. So what would you suggest me? Is this enough research topic for master’s degree in our school Computer Science? Thank you for your time.
You have a good idea. Now you have to formulate it into a research question. For example, "How does Cadaster DBMS perform with Geo-database?".
2. Then you can list a number of performance metrics against which you can compare your proposed system (i.e. cadaster with geo-database) to the existing system. You can get the appropriate metrics from literature review of similar works.
3. Then develop your system and test it against the metrics in (2) above. Similarly test the current system against the same metrics.
4. Then compare the two system and conclude whether your proposed system is better, or where are the strength and weaknesses of your proposed system compared to the current system.
