I want to manufacture a boring bar with composite material for that i require the following:
1. What properties a boring bar should have
2. What material i can use to manufacture a boring bar,
3. Can I use a Metal Matrix Composite as boring bar material.

I would pay attention to the stiffness of the bar ( the depends of form and material Young modulus).
The MMC materials tends to have high stiffness, although you should care about toughness.
The criteria for selecting a material for boring bar is a overhang (ratio between length over area). This value gives an idea of the stifness of the bar. The greater value, major stifness. In industrial machining the normal materials to toolholders are temper steel if the boring bar will be work in short holes, but if the length of the hole increase the tool holder must be of hard metal, because hard metal have three times more stifness than temper steel.
