I have read that organic matter content greatly influences plant, animal and microorganism populations in the soil. And decomposing organic material provides many necessary nutrients to soil inhabitants and plants.
But I wonder why is it necessary to increase the organic content in a river. Could you please elaborate?
Thank you so much for your interests in this context;
there are several things in India and it's religious rituals along the river bank areas, most of them are huge bathing, throwing of food remaining, intrusion of sewage, open defecation along the banks, washing, intrusion of agricultural runoff.
did these activities increase the organic concentration in the water which receives this much of huge wastes ?
hope you understand Mr.Vijay Bhatt and Mr.Fulvio Rivano
River pollutions can come from points sources or non points sources. According to EPA, they can provide from ^ ways. Biodegradable waste provides an energy source (organic carbon) for bacteria, plants nutrients such as nitrates and phosphate, heat, sediment consists of mineral and organig solid, hazardous and toxic chemicals, radioactive polluants, pharmaceuticals and personal care products. you can visit water.epa.gov › ... › Polluted Runoff and www.safewater.org/PDFS/resourcesknowthefacts/pollution+eau.pdf
