Both, the academic applied research and the industry applied research have been evolving side by side for many years. However, there still are number of differences with regards to their outcome assessment measures. What is the outcome assessment metrics that could be use as a template for both academia and industry?

High number of citations and re-usage of the outcomes of academic and industry applied research in other high impact research is a very useful indicator to assess the relative quality of research outcomes.
As an Public Health Practitioner, I am not much aware about outcome matrix for computer and engeeneering scince. However, Publications ( Journal?), finacial support ( who and why?) and the research institute and leading figure are also important in my view.
