A recent article in The Times reported that GCHQ specifically employed dyslexic intelligence officers for their dispassionate, logical and analytical approaches.  Dyslexics have normal non-verbal, performance or visuospatial IQs, but lower verbal IQs reflecting their dyslexia.  This low V IQ and discrepancy between V and non-V IQ is responsible for their poor reading and academic attainments.  So, is GCHQ merely noting that if you use the right IQ test, dyslexics are quite capable of performing high level non-verbal tasks, or is it that they have some relevant compensatory abilities that are superior to those of neurotypicals?
