In some conferences there are thousads of particpants and speakers in others tens of them, what is your preference, huge conferences or limited ones?
a distinguished presentation of 45-60 min, after this some time for discussion, break. Then two lectures of 30-40 min. one after the other, then a shorter break, and then in the same manner. Mostly is the problem that the overall time of conferences is too long for some people.
The numbers attending are not as important as the quality of the event as there are benefits and disadvantages to both large and small conferences.
I agree with Hein. Some distinguished speakers keep on giving lectures completely ignoring the time allotted to them which eventually disrupts the smooth flow of the schedule.
Small meetings are great. you can attend almost all talks and engage in a one to one discussions and great opportunity for networking.
Big meetings you will be lost and will miss lot of stuff. But the opportunity of networking is much greater.
