Pharmacological studies on medicinal plants are intended to evaluate the effective therapeutic dose, duration, therapeutic indications, route of administration, etc.
Pharmacological studies would focus on pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination) and/or pharmacodynamics (mechanism) of the medicinal products that is the effect of the medicinal plant in the body and/or the response of the body towards the medicinal plant (eg. changing the structural form-biotransformation). However, toxicological studies would focus on the safety perspective, the minimum toxic dose or the toxic effects it can induce in the body.
