Writing skill is very important

Logic is another skill very much important for research students.

In my introducing lectures at the beginning of the semester I used to ask my auditory, many hundred newcomers, the same question. And there were good and reasonable answers, also my forerunners have given. My own suggestions in the lecture for newcomers were quite different: I used to state: You have to learn to contradict. Don't believe what docents say, test it, and try to contradict with good arguments. In particular, don't believe media and populists. The basic principle is contradiction, that means: not to believe your habits.

Really, it depends on many factors including personal and academic parameters, but the most important one is to be tough in the scientific scope.

I'm not an education expert, so I can answer you by identifying myself as a student.

As a reflection of common sense, I think that a good teacher must transmit passion and curiosity, not only for his discipline, but as a general attitude towards the whole knowledge. A good teacher should also be able to harmonize their students with each other, to facilitate their ability to cooperate. I think that every talent and every ability acquired by a student is based on these fundamentals, as a consequence of their presence.

At the technical level, I think it is very important to take a solid basic preparation, without overemphasising the role of digital technologies in education. In many cases the internet offers an inaccurate and fragmented knowledge: in this regard, an important skill to be developed could be to teach how to make a profitable and efficient use of such information. In my opinion, teacher need to connect theory with practical situations which students can connect easily. This will help in better and faster understanding of concepts by students. Positive attitude of students towards learning play a major factor.

Teachers should be able to explain the concept in a simpler way to help in understanding faster as well create interest.

However students studying the subject need to be interested otherwise they will not learn.

Specialized knowledge in his research area.

Cognitive skills, affective skills and psychomotor skills. In cognitive I emphasize on remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and above all the CREATING SKILL.

I'd say the following are pertinent:

The potential employee must 'fit in' with the organization

The potential employee must work well with others -- congenial, cooperative, and approachable

The potential employee must have a desire to help and work with students, and be an active part of their development

The potential employee must establish a rapport with students and others

The potential employee must be proactive and flexible toward change

The potential employee should have a good amount of career experience -- someone who possesses an understanding of occupational applications of the course materials.

Although I agree with almost all the answers and do the same (such a beautiful picture, indeed!), I´d like to express something else:

I use to teach my students a critical cycle that I saw in the world last decades:

- At the beginning (from industrial revolution until about 5 decades ago), it was normal to transform physical strongness into revenues; after that, the more the world evolved, the more knowledge has gained importance, so became normal to convert knowledge into income. In the last two decades, the evolution has achieved a stage where we tend to translate creativity into revenues.

Long before: Physical strongness -> revenue

Near back: Knowledge -> money

Now and on: Creativity -> income

This cycle differs much from the past generations, as our fathers and before that.

As better as students grasp this evolving change, better they can behave and perform in this shocking/changing/exciting/difficult world we live in!

For teaching students at the university level , professor must have all the qualification ,experience, how is academic career so that he may offer justice, to the student. With this professor must have his own personalities in the method of his speech ,his oratory action ,knowledge , & also his impressive study of the development in the new line of subject concern he should part the information to the students which may also help them to become a guideline for their progressive career .

Brain storming and creative thinking skills.

I think before teaching in University a person should know himself/herself (Know thyself).What ever the subjects should understand the science at first. A teacher's position is in between Man and God, so before going to teaching someone have to avail maximum human virtues otherwise he/she will be a mediocre Professor.

In adding my ideas above. The principle of contradiction i science I don't see as an demand for crazy revolution, but for critical thinking.

1. Which epistemological theory is relevant for such principles? It is the Critical Rationalism of Karl R. Popper. Naturally it is difficult to contradict as a beginner and newcomer.

2. But the demand "Try to contradict" should motivate to acquire knowledge for getting insight in the background of statements, hypotheses, ratings in science.

3. To contradict doesn't mean to be arrogant and boastful, but modest, friendlyy, showing understanding for all counterarguments, and having consciesness that to err is human, that concerns in particular the own errors.

Resilience, character, positive mental state

I fully agree with my previous responses of RG colleges.

While teaching can certainly be a challenge, it is also one of the most rewarding careers out there. Check out some of the useful skills for teachers to see if there are any areas you need to work on before you become one:

Patience

This is likely the single most important skill. Kids these days are stubborn, and many lack the inherent respect for authority that we were taught at a young age. Spending a single day in a room full of raucous teenagers is enough to send any human being to the looney bin, which is why every good teacher needs patience in order to find a way to work with his students and earn their respect.

Adaptability

Different kids learn in different ways, and some lessons need unique teaching tools. Good teachers know how to adapt their lesson plan to their students, so that all the kids learn optimally. This trait can take some experience and practice in a classroom setting, so give it time.

Imagination

Whether you teach high school chemistry or kindergarten, nothing is a more effective tool than using your imagination to create new and interesting ways for your students to learn. You may be inspired by the work of another teacher, mentor or a TV commercial - it doesn't matter. All that matters is that you take the initiative to find new ways for your kids to learn the material.

Teamwork

Teachers could have a hard time without a wide variety of support staff around them. If you feel alone, your school principal, administrative staff, parent-teacher committee, and more are often available to provide you help. By working as a team, you may have an easier time increasing your students' ability to learn and have fun.

Risk Taking

Sometimes to get the big reward, you may need to take a risk. Being a teacher is about finding a way to get kids to learn, and sometimes these new learning methods can be risky. Stick to it and you'll soon find that others are following your teaching example.

Constant Learning

You can never know too much when you are a teacher, especially when it comes to the best way to teach your students. Great teachers are constantly looking for ways to expand their horizons with courses, workshops, and seminars. Make sure you don't become stagnant by taking courses to keep the content fresh in your mind.

Communication

No teacher will succeed if they don't have good communication skills. Clear, concise, and to the point - the better your communication skills are, the easier your lessons will be. There are many different types of classes available to help some teachers who may need help improving their skills.

Mentoring

Teachers need to always remember that, aside from parents, they are one of the most consistent mentors in a child's life. That means setting a good example, at all times. Teachers may also have students that they spend extra time with being a mentor, which means that being a good role model is even more important.

Leadership

One of the other most important skills each teacher must have (besides patience) is leadership. Your students need someone to guide them, to be in charge, and set the tone of the class. Leadership is a difficult skill, meaning you may want to get outside help if you feel that you could use more work on this particular skill, or any other for that matter.

Dear Joanna, I think that all factors that you put in the question are important. Traditionally higher education is associated with professional knowledge (especially in specialized institutes, like technical). Universities often teach a set of subjects that allow for more general knowledge (and an ability of self-extraction of it in future).

As for cooperation and solving problems - it is also important, but very often there are no special subjects for that. Professors know the major forms of teaching as lectures and seminars. Here we need to give some psychological skills about interaction in a group, but professors often do not know it themselves.

I think that professors as with many others who do well in a select area fail to understand their own limits and seem often lacking in self-awareness, while also suffering from the surfeit of self-confidence expressed as superiority and arrogance. Like most of us, few will actually be remembered-in the sense of cultural impact and presence-and will eventually join the hoi-poloi in the all-embracing land of eternal nod.

I remember professors spending the first semester telling students, largely from the same class-background as themselves, how important they were, the top 2% in the country. That was how they imagined themselves, but, in fact, in terms of achievement few of the professors actually were. Did those students go on in the same pig-headed, big-headed attitudes of their teachers or did they instead leave the club-atmosphere of top universities and experience the cut and thrust, give and take of the commercial world-for example-where preening egos can count for little?

So perhaps students should be taught: They have luck on their side; their gifts in the scheme of things are probably no better than the next persons; train those gifts not their egos; deal with others with humility and at least a pinch of psychological insight.

In the courses that I teach, which relate to investment evaluation and decision-making, these are a number of areas that I emphasised:

1. Know what you are trying to solve before attempting to frame a solution;

2. Understand the human aspects of decision-making, how interests coincide or collide, and the how decisions are communicated (or sold) to stakeholders;

3. Know your field, and the skills you need to navigate the multitudes of issues;

4. Be clear with your moral compass to guide your evaluation and decision-making; and

5. Listen to opposing views.

This that agree with your may not always be the people who will carry things through. Understand those that oppose the ideas by listening to what they have to say. No one has the monopoly on wisdom. A dose of humility is worth a ton of genius.

In the end, students are formed to be human, not taught to be proficient production machines. The latter happens when they are taught skills but not formed to use those skills with integrity, compassion and humility.

Teachers should have knowledge/mastery of multi disciplines and teacher should be up to date in terms of research and general knowledge. being up to date removes the generation gaps. He/she should have positive attitude because teacher has to face arguments questions and opinions from persons with individual differences. teacher should be a good actor to perform and make believe what is in teachers' minds. teachers should be vocal and have art to motivate and convince somebody else.

Joanna no matter the essential academic and intellectual skills, humility in a teacher is important. Teaching and research must be about knowledge only and the transmission of knowledge.

Neville Johnson says that effective teaching is expected to educate pupils to exercise self-conscious ability that does not reach the ultimate degree, nor personal aspiration without all other aspirations; it is a teaching that elevates the level of the individual's will for himself and his surroundings and awareness of his ambitions and the problems of his society. Be able to analyze, crystallize and understand not only through the educational stages but continuously.

Critical thinking (i.e. how to think, not what to think), good judgement, and confident decision-making

to be good people, to consider others, to help when they need it. This, although it may seem simple, is something that most teachers lack, especially when they reach command positions.
