Before incorporating the CNT with the matrix , you can treat them with acid treatment like sulfuric acid or nitric acid or both as a mixture.

If the matrix is polymer, CNTs are dispersed in a solvent and mixed with polymer by mixing, magnetic stirring or sonication. If the matrix is metal powders, no need of the any chemical process.

Dear Colleague,

It depends on what polymer matrix you want to use. We, for example, polymerize aniline, pyrrole, thiophenes in a presence of CNTs. The formed core-shell nanocomposites can be mixed through solution or melt blending with PVDF, PVC, PMMA and other matrixes. But, there are a lot of good papers on the matter for other cases e.g.:
