TiO2 has been extensively explored as the Photocatalytic material for a number of applications. what are the current mega trends that are in this field? What are the challenges that are still to be achieved and overcome?
From my personal point of view, one of the objectives of the TiO2 research is to be able to control the band-gap for different uses. The incorporation of metals to modify the band-gap is very relevant, although there is still much to do in this field. Perhaps, the incorporation not only of metals, but also of other materials such as graphene or MoS2 is of great relevance since the mechanisms of action are not entirely clear.
There is a great gap. In my opinion, the incorporation/doping of metal in mesoporous Titania or associated semiconductor photocatalysts are seldom seen. However, I have prepared the mesoporous LaVO4 and achieved excellent results.
