Antimalarial screening of drug is a principal approach of chemotherapeutic research against malaria parasites which involves evaluating the antiparasitic activity of plants currently employed in traditional medicine.
The four stages are
1. Primary screening stage; this stage establishes whether compounds have activity against malaria parasites
2. Secondary screening stage; this stage qualifies and quantifies antiparasitic activity as well as determines the safety and comparative activities of analogues
3. Tertiary screening stage; this stage indicates the antiparasitic activity in non-human and human in primates other than man.
4. Fourth screening stage; this is a final screening stage which involves the clinical testing.
