Gender inequality is a really interesting area to study at the moment, I suggest that not only is equality a more globally understood concept  that includes perceptions and expectations of equity and fairness, but at the same time concepts of gender itself seem to increasingly contested.

Concepts of gender seem to be debated in new ways with some calling for a move from binary models of male and female gender categories that perpetuate  gender-normativity, to one that may need to at least consider, the possibility of an alternative narrative. The focus on transgender, gender fluidity and gender variance that  emerges in the UK and USA for example continues to raise debates in the area of gender inequality

Gender inequality from my perspective is a European construct that has been pushed on the rest of the world, From that of the urban centres in Africa, it has become a major problem that most universities have decided to research into using European framework. But in the rural portion of Africa and Ghana to be specific amongst the Akans women are very powerful and without them, chiefs which are meal deomint are not chossen and enstooled. refer to the book Anatomy of Female Power by Chinweizu Ibekwe.

Inequality to think & to view is not repeating to the 21 st century . Scientific technology ,electronic devices ,academic excellence in competition in every areas may not match in the process of inequality .

The differences between human beings are historical, regardless of whether they refer to sex, economic status, academic status, age, or others. The best or worst payment, violence or not, are symptoms that one section of the population is dominating the other.

It's like predator-prey systems.

If we see it this way, when establishing a gender ideology at the global level, we are changing the perception of only two differences to innumerable differences. Time will tell what will be the symptoms of some class prevailing over others.

It has been my experience over my career that there are certain career fields where gender equality has been discriminatory.  Having spent almost 18 years in the Child Welfare and Protection fields, primarily staffed by those with those who have a social worker education or similar, this field is dominated by females.  The majority of the staff were females as were those in positions of management and administration.  In my last assignment, I was the only male in my unit, and one of three males in a department of 36.  When we examine gender equality we need to examine the career selection of those we examine.  Females primarily dominate social work; thus, one can have the perception of reverse gender discrimination.  The same holds true in nursing, daycare, and elementary education. The same can hold true for other primarily male dominate fields, police, fire, mechanics, and construction. 

For years the business field was a male dominate field, however, over the past two decades there has been an equalization.  The number of females leading the top corporations in the world is still low and it fluctuates as female leaders are proving that they can do the job.  This despite the fact that research by McKinsey & Co (2017) have shown that companies in the top quartile for gender diversity in top management and at the board level are 15% more likely to outperform the average financial returns for their industry.

In 2016, the number of women at the helm of Fortune 500 firms declined to 21—not 21%, but 21 total. That is down from 24 the previous year. The lost ground means a mere 4.2% of the 500 largest US companies by revenue are led by female CEOs. The statistics, courtesy of the Fortune Knowledge Group (FKG) and a new study underwritten by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), suggest America’s largest companies have much work to do to achieve gender parity, and the financial benefits that have been shown to come with it. The interesting statistic found in this study is that 19% of the more than 7,500 senior management positions across the companies examined are held by women.
