Juvenile delinquency is a gateway to adult crime, since a large percentage of criminal careers have their roots in childhood causing serious problems all over the world. Today, it has become a topic of great concern and needs to be discussed at a serious note.
Speaking about the most common causes of juvenile delinquency, it should be emphasized that in each local environment these causes may differ due to the specificity of a given community. However, research most often indicates such causes of juvenile delinquency as: pathology in the family or in the social environment of a young person; liberal style of upbringing in the family and at school; crisis of adult authority; poverty; the impact of a negative peer group; failure to comply with compulsory schooling in connection with criminal activity (theft, burglary, etc.). Currently, the growing problem of juvenile delinquency is most often associated with a crisis of values and authorities, a lack of prospects for the future, and the impact of social media that facilitates involvement in criminal activity.
Marzena Kordaczuk Wąs Thank you for your reply. I may suggest, a deep study should be conducted on social, economic, educational and environmental background. Again the socialization process should be studied. Definitely peer group is an important factor.
