Conference Paper The load flow calculation in harmonic polluted radial electr...
The harmonics are produced by non linear or commutated loads as current sources, and when they flow through a network they produce harmonic voltages in upstream busbars, Vi= Zi* Ii (i is the harmonic order, the frequency of the harmonic is i* 50 or 60 Hz). In this way, the pollution produced by these loads is extended to the whole network, and if a resonance occurs, these harmonics could be amplified and will cause many problems. To avoid these effects, frequency and magnitude of harmonics in a polluted electrical system should be measured or calculated in order to compensate them with appropiate tuned filters.
