Minimizing noice is often achieved in number of differet ways, including adaptive filtering, temporal filtering, spatial temporal filtering. These algorithms can be classified into two categories: single-channel technique and multi-channel technique.

Using Gaussian model in adaptive filtering has many advantages including fast convergence speed of the LMS algorithm and better noise cancellation capability where the excess mean square error is expected to be much smaller than that of the case of non-Gaussian model.
