I am writing a master thesis on assesment of sustainable maturity models for SMEs. The thesis aims to provide SMEs with a clear framework to assess their current sustainability practices, identify areas for improvement, and guide their journey towards becoming more strategically sustainable organizations.
Identifying and addressing gaps in sustainable maturity models for SMEs is essential for improving their financial, social, and environmental performance. However, some gaps in these models prevent certain small and medium-sized businesses from achieving sustainable maturity.
For instance, one of the issues is the lack of access to financial and credit resources. Some SMEs struggle to secure capital or credit facilities to invest in their growth and development. Filling this gap may involve providing financial and credit resources to SMEs with favorable working conditions and repayment terms.
Other gaps in sustainable maturity models may include limited access to suitable technology, new markets, technical expertise and skills for producing sustainable products and services, as well as inadequate infrastructure for securing sustainable water and energy resources and managing waste. Addressing these gaps may entail improving access to technology, developing technical expertise, creating new markets, and securing sustainable water and energy resources through government and economic support, as well as providing training and developing necessary infrastructure.
