Different with conventional electrodes, gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) incorporate 3-phase interface inside the electrodes and greatly enhance the kinetics of gas-involved electrochemical reactions, such as O2 electroreduction, CO2 electroreduction, and N2 electroreduction.

It seems a promising electrode configuration for large-scale applications because high current density can be obtained by GDEs.

What are the drawbacks of current GDEs? What are the future trends of GDEs?
