What are the factors we should keep in mind while submitting the article to journal? Why many papers get rejected even though they contain proper content? Why few journals take years of time for article handling (Acceptance/rejection)?
Many factors are involved here among them journal selection is one of the important factors in this regard.
There are multiple factors, the impact factor of the journal, the type of review, the stipulated response time, and if the content is still good, the volume of manuscripts sent may exceed the human review capacity and they may be selective and hence the high rejection rate
Concerning the reviewing time, sometimes, it is difficult for a journal to find reviewers for an article with a more specific topic. It seems the more interdisciplinary your paper is, the more time will be invested in its reviewing. Waiting for more than half a year is not an exception in such a case.

(3) The average review period displayed in the home page.
(4) Is the journal a well-established reputed journal in the concerned field of research?
(5) Does the journal demand money to publish?
(6) Is the journal published by a well-known publisher?
(7) What is the impact factor of the journal ?
(8) The experience of authors who published in the same journal earlier.
(9) Does the journal have an online journal management system to track the progress of the article?
(10) Number of issues published per annum in the journal .
(11) Does it publish online first copy with DOI upon acceptance before allotting volume number?
(12) What is the acceptable percentage of similarity index required of that journal?
(13) Is my supervisor really interested to submit the manuscript to that journal?
