I see no great mystery in this.  The general tendency is society is for those with greatest cultural, social and other capitals such as those in more privileged strata to capture and colonise these public goods (Bourdieu).  They seek to gather together to exploit these advantages and to insulate themselves from the negative social effects of inequality.  These forms of human capital--as Bourdieu recognises--are associated with long-term wealth running across centuries (Piketty).  All of these resources are used to explore and capture public goods, whether they are in fact explicitly designed to operate in favour of quite different social groups. 

Of course there are other bodies of theory (famously, those such as Sen's capability theory, see the critique of these by Lilian Miles), which offer further cogent explanations of this sort of social phenomenon.

    No one is happy with their present circumference, may want to increase it with additional fillers. Its obvious that each caste has its own USP but this incident is probably against the wave of reservation: No perfect logic behind reservations 

At present overall "Reservation" is a meaningless term in view of the great originators of our constitution. Things are exploited by the developed and comparatively well established communities for vested interest with false and manipulated 'Reserve' certificates from most of the legal offices India-wide. It is just one of major scope of employment corruption.

The Patel/s are procuring such certificates in big number, but in this movement they are trying to have freelance of it with menace, like other opportunistic political game also. 

'Reservation' must be on basis of economic-parameter only and must be implement in Govt. as well as in all private sectors.

First of all, we need data on their representation in Government service. Whether their presence is commensurate with the population data needs to be studied. If  there is high disparity in the representation in Government service vis-a-vis Population, then reservation may be granted to them to ensure equitable development. Here comes the significance of using criteria of income / social status / affluence etc. with a view to exclude the 'Creamy layer' within such communities and to provide the benefits to the deserving sections (Non Creamy layer) alone.   

Reservation in the Private sector is better said than done. As private sector is primarily profit-motivated, will they be interested to ensure equitable development / social equity? Unless some statutory provision (like, 02 percent for CSR investment as per New Companies Act, 2013) is put in place, no private sector enterprise is likely to provide reservation (based on any criteria, for that matter, say, income alone) to anybody. Only in Government sector / Public Sector Units it will work out ; as of now.

That's exactly why even the Supreme Court has specifically insisted on the removal of 'Creamy Layer' among OBCs while extending reservations. Similarly, all Governmental concessions / reliefs / reservations should ideally have such riders. It should not be of 'blanket' nature. Those claiming reservations / reliefs should first of all prove the genuineness of the same using authentic statistics (Census data etc.). Then the Government should take suitable 'Affirmative Actions' / Proactive Measures; after ensuring that the 'Creamy Layer' within such deserving groups are kept away from all such benefits.

The difficulty of course is that any filtering system will be hard for the real target populations to navigate.

Yes, Richard Croucher Sir. What you said is true. Because, vested interests are there from to top to bottom. They don't want the real outcome, rather they go by their own benefits. Once the 'Real Filtering' happens, their private / selfish motives could not be fulfilled. Thus, they (eg. politicians, bureaucrats etc.) would manipulate such initiatives right from the beginning.  

I do believe that this reservation menace has grown very thick and large. As of now reservation are going to help any community and it has made communities dependent on it. Only certain section if reserved communities has got the actual benefit. So whole reservation issue should be looked in totality.

Patels and Jats have made this demand only to seek some more gains as their some sections are deprived but it is reasonable to find solution of every problem in reservation.  

Any move should be based on authentic data / details regarding various communities. A comprehensive Socio-economic Census (more detailed than the 2011 Census) needs to be conducted. Accordingly, the relative deprivation, socio-economic status etc. of various communities (including SC/ST/OBCs who are enjoying such benefits) should be assessed. Then only any move for changing the present system could be substantiated; say, before the Legislature / Courts of Law, or even the general public.    

Failure of welfare State from a long time breeding inequalities further... Ironically, this failure is a political failure of imagination.
