Definitely is DFIG still one of the leading technologies for windturbines. It goes up 10 MW. Also second technology is synchronous generators with permanent magnet.

For it's robustness, low-speed applications, high torque and simple configurations, those of the permanent magnets are making waves as they are attracting huge interests. Also, the DFIG configurations present a critical advantage of variable speed to deliver maximum output and to judge the two, we must consider their ratings as their performances are dependent on their applications. For lower torque applications, those of the permanent magnets may be preferred and vice versa
