I need to know differences between industrial cane and chewing cane in it's morphological, physical and physiological character. Both the canes come under Saccharum officinarum.
The principal characteristic of chewing cane is a few fiber concentrations . Then it´s softer in any state of plant matures. In Mexico used traditionaly varietys and chewing cane is growth in small parcels (farmland), in diferents conditiions of industrial sugar cane.
"Sugarcane varieties can be placed into one of three categories according to their physical and chemical characteristics—chewing canes, crystal canes, or syrup canes".
Please see below website for different TYPEs of sugarcanes produced by different varieties. Website is owned by University of Florida Extension (USA) at: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/sc052
if we take two categories Chewing and Industry (Crystal & Syrup ) then we can say; chewing cane is soft in nature and not so hard but Industry cane may be soft or hard and have a larger diameter then chewing cane.
