"In 2015, 54.1% of tertiary students (university students) in the EU-28 were women", says EUROSTAT. In some EU-States is the percent value much higher, in other lower. That means: in our time the female sex has a lead in education! This is a revolution of education, but many people underestimate the consrequences. This revolution is welcome regarding the well-known historical disadvanges of the role of women in society, traditionally limited by determining her role as mother of children and as housewife in a society dominated by men.

In Europe, and especially in Germany, 30 years ago young women graduated from school with on average much lower qualifications than young men. The changed role of women in Western society led to a process of emancipation, especially in higher education, in which in a pronounced educational advantage of the female gender today is obvious.

Accordingly, the proportion of school leavers in elementary school without any school-leaving qualification is significantly higher among boys than among girls. The proportion of female students who become scientists or engineers has also increased significantly. Since young women have to make a more difficult decision than men with regard to the question "career or family?" because of the children to be expected after marriage, the answer to this question is quite complex. It also shows new social risks: Particularly with regard to the fate of a larger number of young men who, with little education, have little chance of advancement.

A discussion about this in RG can bring new insights.
