I suggest that there are multiple challenges to any profession revolving around the issue of morality and empathy and the ability of a profession to support right decision making processes - what ever they may be in any case.

I regularly discuss similar issues with Hanne Norreklit - who is a management accounting scholar - I suggest that you take a look at her varied scholarship which often take a problematic perspective to recent developments.
