Since the flowers are big and there are relatively few, you can actually count them directly :-)
Dear Sir. Its good project for NTFP resource quantification. The methodology for per tree is ok but when it to be projected on area basis or forest than stratification of Rhodenron population needs to be done on density and frequency basis. As generally the species has sporadic distribution in different altitudes the quantification can be done accordingly. The survey may also give high yielding trees for selection and conservation of good germplasm as you will be classifying maximum yield minimum and average. GBPHHED, Almora and srinagr, Kullu have done such work on diffrent aspects.
1. You can go for 1000 flower weight and then average it to one.
2. Divide the plants into mature and young plants and count the number of flowers on 100 plants in each category.
3. From this, you can calculate the yeild of young and mature plants as average.
4. By counting the total number of plants, you can easily works out the yeild in a particular area.
Although, exact quantification is not possible (that needs all the flowers plucked and weighed), this can give tentative idea.
