First of all you might want to search a little within Researchgate questions/answers for this topic, I am sure I've already seen this question answered somewhere here.

Secondly, it all depends on the type of analyses you carry out most of the time. If you carry out mostly analyses that fell into the framework of the generalized linear models (be it fixed-effects or mixed-effects), I would strongly recommend a GUI (graphical user interface) called R2STATS, which comes as a regular R library. It is extremely powerful (it is based on the lme4 package) and it is a click-and-drop interface (i.e., you won't have to write R code at any point). If you want to give it a try,

- first make sure you have installed the latest R version (if in doubt install it anew)

- copy-paste this command in R:

install.packages("R2STATS",dependencies=TRUE)

If you carry out most of the time other type(s) of analyses, you will have to wait some additional input from other people...

In my opinion, the best way to use R is with Tinn-R (http://www.sciviews.org/Tinn-R/). Is easy to use, light, and with a lot of options.
