Every technologies have some Barriers for Sustainability. I would like to know from you the Barriers for Sustainability of Alternative Energy Technologies.
Every energy resources have some sort of drawback or barriers. Similarly Alternative Energy Technologies has some barriers. Some of them are listed below:
- High initial cost
-Dependence on the weather
- Lack of awareness
- Lack of established high-volume supplier-dealer chains.
- High prices of the components.
- Lack of fund.
What kind of innovations should be created in the 21st century to develop globally the model of sustainable development of national economies?
The development of ecological innovations, technological innovations, energy RES, material innovations that support replacing substitutes with exhausted resources of energy, innovations that improve the economic efficiency of reclaiming processes, innovations reducing reclamation costs of environment devastated by industry etc. will determine the implementation and development of the sustainable model in the future development of national economies.
However, the following questions appear:
- which of these types of innovations will be the most important and for which types of innovations should certain solutions be developed to improve the economic efficiency of these processes?
- whether thanks to these innovations it will be possible to develop the model of sustainable development of national economies globally already in the 21st century?

I think the followings are the barriers for Sustainability of Alternative Energy.
- Point of views of the authorities/ leaders
- Selfish project developers/investors
- Lack of the incentive mechanisms
- Individual penetration of the Alternative Energy organizations
- No concrete Energy roadmap and the action plan
- Needs of the Capacity and Awareness building

Cultural and social barriers, including social capital spider relationships, are highly effective in technological sustainability.
Storage is the main barrier. If we could have a efficient and economic storage system, solar and wind power can be stored and intermittency can be compensated.
