Sulav Indra Paul Thanks for answering. Yes, I'm also thinking it could be a bacteria. You're right, its not easy to identify its genus unless if i run some test like Gram staining.
I also think that these are bacteria. But it is so hard to guess the bacterial genus by observing colony morphology. For determining bacterial genus you can do some test, you can follow Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology.
Dear Banupriya, if you really want to know the species of bacteria or fungi in your plates, the best way would be to run a PCR with primers for the 16S ribosomal gene and send the PCR product for sequencing. Good luck with everything.
To know the exact type of bacteria you have variety of things to do e.g some chemical tests, or make a slide from your sample with gram stain ,and of course some colonies have specific traits such as proteus spp which have fishy odor , the last but not the least is by doing PCR.
