30 years ago, in my hospital, Thyroid operation applies acupuncture anesthesia to prevent Recurrent laryngeal nerve ( RLN ) injury. Acupuncture anesthesia can keep patient in awake state.

about: “Well, you can think about the method, the speculative theory cannot be reconciled with modern science?”- my opinion if something are going well it necessary to have a strong explanation  onto the modern science… I think the actually modern science is to divided connection between the gotten fields is hard… The modern science has not a very simple and useful philosophical background which permits passage between fields… Another problem is languages used by fields which also are causing obstacles between communication…

Although I am a Chinese, I have little knowledge on acupuncture. My mother was very interested in it. When I was a child and had caught some kind of lurgy, she always pressed acupoint or moxa-moxibustion  acupoint for me. My experience, Moxa-moxibustion  acupoint is very effective  for  preventing  and relieve cough symptom .

Many points have been provided however I wanted to add this point too; our entire body has lymphatic system drainage. I understand that acupressure directly remove or nullify the obstructed points which have direct link on lymphatic system which is exactly similar to circulatory system in its webbing over the entire body. Lymphatic drainage system is less given importance in the modern medical world. However, in alternative medicines  the books never mention of lymphatic drainage system. The Chinese System explains Meridian Lines which are nothing but underlying llymphatic drainage system. The massage is given to the lymphatics and to the tissue bundles.
