As I read, CV tests are done to check the activity of biofilm forms on an anode or a cathode in MFCs or MECs, based on the application, it can asses  oxidation or reduction in any of these electrodes, e.g, reduction activity in biocathode in MEC. How I can run CV for this application? Refering to teh literature,  i know a working electrode is considered the respective electrode of investigation(here for example: cathode), reference electrode is the electrode already inserted in the same cell, is it counter electrode the anode electrode, then? I am still blare about purging the gases of N2 and O2 in cells during CV tests, may kindly explain about it?  do we need to open the system and bring out the electrode for running CV tests, or can be done without disturbing system?

I do appreciate for any advice in this regard.
