We'd like to pattern proteins using a printing system rather than micro-contact stamping. Any good options out there? Ideally, 25 micron features would be good. Mostly, we'd be printing collagen/fibronectin--tough proteins that can handle being dried out.
We'd consider using a repurposed microarrayer if it can print small, overlapping spots to create continuous features such as lines.
We've seen the Nano Enabler, but it's a bit on the pricey side ($150k), so we're hoping for something cheaper.

Thanks for the reply, but we're specifically trying to avoid micro contact stamping. In our hands, it is not entirely reliable and the need for a new mold anytime a new feature is desired is tedious due to photolithography and the need for a cleanroom. We'd really like something that can print patterns. We've hacked solutions together with inkjets, but we're curious about what commercial tools might be available.
Perhaps Dimatix Materials Printer DMP-2831 is adaptated to your needs! It can print 10pl droplets and create patterns... if you choose inkjet printing technics, you must take care about the rheological prperties of your inks.
Please have a look to the attached paper. The described strategy allows for fast, reproducible, multi-protein patterning at the sub-micrometer scale.

I wanted to add some information on the paper attached by Pierre Olivier.
With ALVEOLE, we have developed a device PRIMO, based upon the technology described in this article.
With this device you can achieve multiprotein patterning on any kind of cell culture substrates (glass, PDMS, plastic, microsystems, ... ). It's a UV illumination module plugged onto an inverted microscope, combined with a specific chemical reagent (PLPP).
As we project a UV image in the focal plane of the microscope lense, we don't need a photomask, and we can tune very easily the size and the shape of the pattern. Thus, it is really versatile and perfect if you need to optimize your features.
