Acid Blue 9 dye is mixed with farm soil as fertilizer and now it is causing a disturbance to the area after rains as all water sources around are becoming blue in colour. The dye may harm the algal population from the water bodies. Can any one suggest simple remedies to remove it completely from the fields.
Dear Prakash, Since it is a synthetic pigment produced using aromatic hydrocarbons from petroleum, many considerations may be made by you before final decision: 1. It is an organic contaminant on the farm soil and will be biodegradable 2. The depth of spread into the soil will determine application of bioremediation (stimulated) 3. What is the age of the contamination? 4. Is it in pure form or from cosmetics or other products from which it has been used? 5. What is the concentration?
All theses need to be addressed for effective choice.

I feel use of chemicals in the soil may disturb the flora and fauna supporting the system and therefore systematic removal and proper method of phyto-remediation can be used. Please comment.
