There are very many journals that are free to publish around biomedicine. Access either ISI Web of Science or Scimago and search the many medical categories - as well as general medicine. There is a function to turn on and off open access journals. The other advantage of these databases is that they rank the journals in order of impact factor.
Most journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Wiley-Blackwell, Taylor & Francis and Sage are free of charge if you choose subscription only option when completing the copyright forms after your manuscript have been accepted, but you will have to pay an article processing charge if you choose open access publication. Subscription only option gives you temporary access to the published article after publication to download a PDF copy of the published article. You can also have all access to the paper or other published papers in the journal if your University or establishment subscribed to the journals. In addition, article processing charge is waived for manuscripts of authors from low and middle income countries in the BMC-series journals which are usually open access.
