Personal ethics are code of ethical guidelines that act as a beacon in our personal life. Personal ethics also help to develop our career and handle many different workplace scenarios. On the other hand professional code of ethics demark standards that a professional must adhere to or work according to, or what is expected of you as a member of a professional body such as CPA (Accountants), AMA (Physicians), ASME (engineers) , by colleagues, employers and members of the public and what one's professional responsibilities and accountabilities are. However its important to determine the ethical qualities common to most professions based on human character.
I believe that the responsibility coupled with constancy are essential. Also humanism is vital. And a very important one for me is modesty.

"Professional ethics" or "code of conduct" pertains to a set of conduct required by a certain profession. It is a predetermined set of conduct expected of a professional in the discharge of his/her professional duties and interaction with other individuals as such. In fact, violation of the "code of ethics/conduct" set by a given profession is actionable before a regulatory agency. "Personal ethics", on the other hand, reflect the individual's conduct when he/she interacts with the members of society as a private individual. However, most jurisdiction do not allow dichotomization of personal conduct vis-a-vis conduct in private life or professional life. In the end, it is logical to conclude that regardless as to who you are as a professional, your professional ethics is heavily infused with "personal ethics," not the other way around. It has been said that "good moral character has been the "historic unquestioned prerequisite of fitness“ (citation omitted) to practice a profession."
Personal ethics are ultimate. As Bhagavad Gita says Svadharme nidhanam Shreyah... It is better to follow one's own dharma or what one has ordained as principles than to follow what one does not know. Suddenly the rules in the organisations and people around you change. In the name of politics everything is justified. The would quote in war and love everything is fair. but some base for your behaviour comes out of personal principles. Like truth, non violence etc.,
Your personality expresses your ethics. One cannot have two personalities, a personal personality and a work personality. Just like the late Flip Wilson use to say "What you SEE is what you GET!"
