I am using Plaxis 8.2 and a when performing Phi-C reduction, I often get a number of inaccurate plastic points that is above the maximum permitted, and hence my study will not converge. What are exactly the inaccurate plastic points? Is their high number the result of mesh size, or very small loads, or other facts?
And is there is a way to increase the maximum permitted numbers of those inaccurate points?
The inaccurate plastic point is a concept used in PLAXIS and it will be appeared when the local error exceeds the value of the user specified tolerate error during solving the nonlinear finite element equation and help to keep the numerical solution very close to exact solution. You could void this problem by trying to improve the stiffness parameters of soil or reduce the value of applied load or increase the value of specified tolerate error from the numerical control window but the last option can produce inaccurate result for your analysis.
