Some one said, thesis are conducted by Master's and Mphil Students; some authors have referred it for the Doctoral Program; on the contrary, dissertation is conducted by PhD candidates but some argues for Master's students even in Bangladesh the last semester students requires to conduct dissertation; so confusion often creates between 'thesis' and Dissertation"; expert opinion needs.
Dear Md. Milan Hossain, "Thesis" is the general term for the written protocol / summary of a research project carried out by an undergraduate or graduate student supervised by a senior researcher / professor. Thus a "Thesis" can be a Bachelor Thesis, a Master Thesis, of a PhD Thesis. Only the PhD Thesis is often called "Dissertation".

There are mainstream uses of these term, as explained by Frank T. Edelmann . However, Education cultures are also national cultures, and will thereby vary in how different old terms are used today, as they are inherited from older times, and applied differently. ”Dissertatio” has its roots in ”ars disputandi” in early medieval universities and was a kind of reflection discussion training session following a lectio, (lecture). In this a thesis could be put forth (a proposition of truth related to the content of the lectio). The Dissertatio discussion was often role based with a respondent, an opponent and a presiding master. This was a scholastic disputatio in search of truth, to be kept apart from the dialectic disputatio who was a duel between contestants in search for a technical discussion winner.
A scholastic disputatio could be used for examination of a students understanding, but seems originally not to be an examination for winning a degree. In connection to the disputatio, a dissertatio could be written, a kind if well written minutes of the disputatio, often written after, not before the oral disputatio. We do not even know the author of many such dissertatio. This could be a document as shorts as a one-pager with some bullet points, but grew in lenght. This happened in Paris, Bologna and other European old universities.
The students came from different countries, went home and formed by time national universities, applying practises and terminology in different ways. So the ”dissertation” concept can in a country be used for a short paper at bachelors level and the thesis as well. Not wrong, but varying development of old terminology.
