Survey of forest resources is for variety of objectives and is an important exercise for forest resource assessment and management. Quantification of forest resources in terms of area, biomass, products, value etc also needed for conservation demand supply gaps, economic analysis and trade. Though most of the forest resources are manged for ecological gains but still just survey of forest cover and density by satellite imageries is not sufficient to have proper assessment. Therefore suggest studies and methodologies undertaken for forest resource survey wood, non wood products, environmental services, carbon pool and overall holistic view about resources.
These methods include the use of geographic information systems (GIS ) , AERIAL PHTOGRAPHS, GROUND PENETRATING RADAR ( GPR ), GLOBAL POSITIONING POSITIONING SYSTEM ( GPS ), SATELLITE IMAGERY, PEDOSYSTEM, FIELD SURVEY, FIELD DESCRIPTION, RANGE RESOURCE INVENTORY AND AGROCLIMATIC SURVEY.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS ) , AERIAL PHTOGRAPHS, GROUND PENETRATING RADAR ( GPR ), GLOBAL POSITIONING POSITIONING SYSTEM ( GPS ), SATELLITE IMAGERY used for the area where physical reach not possible... And field survey for the physically reach area... You can assessment the forest resources by the ecosystem services either in terms of monetary value or the demand of the product..
