Tree phenology generally refer to calendar of events taking place in life history of a tree. It includes from leaves emergence to fruit or seed setting all for a silviculturist. I want to focus on phenology of flowering and fruiting of trees vis and vis seed quality, determination of seed maturity indices and finally impact on viability/ seed germination. Is there any such studies or corelation has been develop for tropical trees specially Anthocephalus cadamba syn. Neolamarckia cadamba . If such studies carried out any other tree species are also welcome to share.
I have come across several works particularly in legume pods, its seed position sequence of maturation within the pod etc all effect the seed quality. You will find such studies in annuals. In tree species I have little knowledge. Its an recalcitrant species. The phenological studies are important for example for to management seed orchards and produce seed with genetic quality and genetic diversity.
You need to know know when trees are fruiting so you can collect the seeds!

Now a days time of flowering and fruiting are changed due to climate change, therefore phenological study is important aspect for judging the quality of seed and seed harvesting time.
In Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden and Institute phenological observations are carried out regularly during the growing season. The program of observations of woody plants is extensive. From flowering to fruiting, we observe phenophases: swelling and blooming of generative buds, budding, beginning of flowering, end of flowering, fruit set, unripe fruits reach the size of mature fruits fruit ripening.
We are currently working on the following questions: the study of seed germination, seed mass, the percentage of fruiting in the introduced Crataegus L.
It may be interesting to analyze the duration of the prefloral period, abundance of flowering and fruiting.
I think that Phenological studies in trees must be done every season by Foretsry department. The data could indicate several informations about climate change, impact of environmental conditions...

From each batch of seeds randomly formed samples of 50-100 pieces seeds. Weighed each seed. Weighing was carried out with an accuracy of up to 0.0001 g. The obtained data were processed statistically according to accepted methods. Seeds were divided into groups depending on the mass. Studied the combination of methods of stratification and scarification of seeds.
There are many tropical trees on which phenological studies has been carried. I have studied on Oroxylum indicum which is a medicinally important forest tree species. Due to previous poor seed viability reports I conducted studies on seed germination as well as conservation measures and other aspects of the particular tree species.
