Just wanted to throw this question out there, if anyone know about any country, municipality or other entity that has adopted water quality standard for hygiene use (in contrast to potable water, or drinking water quality standard)?
Hygiene refers to behaviors that can improve cleanliness and lead to good health, such as frequent hand washing, face washing, and bathing with soap and water (CDC).
According to the definition, can we include toilet flushing water also as hygiene water? if so, then we can find different standards for such uses. for example,
I was born and grownup in Sri Lanka, lived 4 and 7 years in Thailand and Japan respectively. All three countries, there was no specific standard for hygiene water quality (considering the water use for hand washing, face washing, and bathing), it is considered same as potable/drinking water quality. However, in case of war uses such as toilet flushing etc. there are different standards.
Yes, by "hygiene" use I would like to include washing textiles, cleaning, showering/bathing, washing hands - basically everyting BUT drinking and cooking (and maybe washing dishes).
I'm aware of the standards for outdoor bathing and swimming, we have them in sweden as well, but we are lacking a differentiation between cooking and flushing toilet or washing floors.
Thanks for the links by the way, highly interesting!
