A balanced diet is much better than taking vitamins. I never take vitamins but I prefer to eat vegetable and fruit which are rich with natural vitamins.
Because I deal with nature and plants, we can get fresh vegetables and fruits, do not take any vitamins, with balanced healthy food and daily sports can improve natural immunity
If you take daily balance diet ( all essential nutrients like carbohydrates proteins fats minerals vitamins in diet) then there's absolutely no need to take the vitamin supplements rather useless. But in case at times like if someone takes antibiotics or some drugs ( taking Isoniazid)which need to be supplemented by vitamins. Of course when there's specific deficiency of certain vitamins like cheilitis, glossostomatitis , scurvy etc then supplements required otherwise no need if the balance diet you take regularly.
Each vitamin has specific jobs. If you have low levels of certain vitamins, you may get health problems. For example, if you don't get enough vitamin C, you could become anemic. Some vitamins may help prevent medical problems. Vitamin A prevents night blindness.
In this era of fast food and convenience over quality, there is no way for people to get all the vitamins and nutrients they need through food alone, Taking vitamin supplements against poor eating habits might increase their risk of health problems.
