To learn contact behaviour in ANSYS apdl 16, I have modelled two 3D beam having same material and geometry property. surface-surface contact is provided by using normal stiffness factor =0.1 and friction =0. Now as stiffness of both beam is same theoretically, vertical separation should not occur. But in my case separation is occurring so What should be problem?
I have provided initially Uz and Uy constraint at one end and Uy at second end but at that time deformation in Ux direction also observed so in second model i have also provided constraint in Ux direction.
Note: I have provided linear material property and 10 division mesh in depth for both the beam. Please also see attach photos.

May be you can try define Friction value 0.1 or greater between two bodies.

1) Once again, how is the load applied?
2) On the left there is a rigid pinch, on the right is a support. Try to make two support beam. Left restriction only on Uy.
