I am working on vertical axis turbine in water channel. I am using Fluent for my 3D simulation. I am trying calculate Cp by using formula as follow:
Cp= Torque*omega / (0.5* Rho* area * V^3)
i am using moving frame for rotate turbine, can you hint me to calculate turbine torque
CFX must calculate power from which you can find torque for a constant omega.
If you used fluent for your CFD simulations, at the post processing phase, click the reports tool. Select force and then select the origin of rotation and the direction of the force and click ok. Do the same for all the components of the force. Select the component normal to the axis of rotation and tangential to the rotor, that should be the driving force. Multiply the force by the radius of the rotor to get your torque. Or you could select moment in the fluent post processing window and select the direction of the axis of rotation and click ok to get the moment.
