I just started the UV-Vis Spectroscopy of Carbon nanotube (CNT). I just got confused to interpret the results.
Would you please help me with these questions:
1- Why I cannot find the 4 peaks of the pi plasmon, E11, E22, and M11?
2- Why the spectra are more noisy when I used distilled water as a solvent in comparison with ethanol?
The attached images are some of the UV-Vis results dissolved in ethanol.

UV-spectroscopy in the UV-visible-near infrared region located between 2500 to 350 nm makes it possible to highlight the band gap transitions characteristic of individual carbon nanotubes of specific diameters and chirality. This spectroscopy therefore makes it possible to estimate the chirality of the nanotubes present in a sample and also indicates a certain degree of individualization in solution. The E11 transitions of metallic nanotubes are visible in the visible range from 645 to 440 nm and the absorptions corresponding to the E11 and E22 transitions of semiconductor nanotubes occur in the near infrared between 1600–830 nm and 800–600 nm, respectively. Each nanotube of chirality (n, m) given has a unique electronic structure, that is to say that the positions of the Van Hove singularities are unique. In ultraviolet (UV) and distant UV broad absorptions are observed due to the plasmon resonances in the cloud of free electrons of the p electrons of the nanotube, where two general bands are observed: the plasmon p, associated with collective excitations of p-electrons at around 310–155 nm and the plasmon p + r, associated with all electrons, at around 125–40 nm. Indeed, the UV-visible-near infrared spectrum of semiconductor nanotubes shows no signal from the plasmon band proving the absence of an electronic level at the Fermi level for semiconductor nanotubes. The absorption bands linked to the Van Hove singularities also decrease with the number of nanotube walls and for multi-wall nanotubes only the plasmon band is visible.

UV–vis spectroscopy allows one to measure mean diameter averaged over an ensemble of nanotubes rather than specific diameters of discrete nanotubes present in the sample.
