Usually, how long it takes to get the first decision (rejected or sent out for review) when a paper submitted to ACS journals, e.g. JACS and Nano Letters?
Usually it takes 2-3 days to know if the paper will go through review or not in ACS journals. If under review it might take between 1-2 months for the first decision.

Each situation can be different, but generally it indeed takes a few days only. It depends on the availability of the editor (who may also take some vacations, and I have also see one who died in the meantime !), and whether one editor passes the paper to another associate editor. In these consitions, it can take as long as 2-3 weeks according to my experience, but this remains exceptional.
ACS has many journals, so every journal has different time period to provide its first decision. Usually it takes around 25-45 days until or unless paper is not rejected by the editor. Otherwise in that condition, you will get the reply in nearly 4-10 days!!!
Associate Editor was assigned for my submission to an ACS journal 4 weeks ago, yet to hear anything back. My previous experience with ACS journals says it takes 4-5 weeks on average.
