Can data of a single variable used in a descriptive study alone be used in another study with another variable using the same data of the variable used in the previous descriptive study? For example, if I publish the data of social networking sites (psychology) in a study alone, and later I use this data in a correlational study with new data of another variable, psychological well-being variable, for example?

If you use the same population of individuals and the quantity measured is not time dependent and other conditions are constant you could do correlation studies with another variable measured at a different time - but otherwise no.

The data from the single variable is the same of individuals to be used once alone as a descriptive study, and then this data used with another variable in which its data gathered on the same population at the same time. For example, I publish social media addiction alone on population A, and then this data used with a new set of data together in another study. Both sets of data (both variables) are gathered together on the same population, but the second set of data used for the first time in the second study.

Yes you just have to study different things each time. You can't publish the same paper twice. Attached is an example of a larger data set that is used in several studies. Best wishes David Booth

Thank you for your comment. I was not saying publish the same variable twice. What I was saying was I publish the data of one variable (variable A) alone as a descriptive study, and the add new data (a new variable with new data as well) with variable A together as a new study together. Does this make sense to you anyway?
Also, I found your explanation confusing. In your comment, you are saying you have published the same data set in several studies. Please correct me if I am wrong or have misunderstood you. Many thanks!

Unless I have misunderstood something, what you are thinking of doing seems quite ok to me. Suppose you had gathered some single variable data (say blood pressure) and someone else gathered some data on a different variable, say stress level, on the same group of people, surely showing that BP data are correlated to stress levels would be not only appropriate but very interesting.

Taking your exact example, same group and with blood pressure and stress level. You have published blood pressure as a single descriptive study, and then you also want to publish this blood pressure data with stress level (same group of people) in a study together. So, my question is this: is it OK to publish both variables together while blood pressure has already been published alone?
If you believe that your dataset is still valid, my answer is "yes, you can." It is ethical as the two studies address two different questions/research hypotheses. It is fine to publish two separate articles.
