You are very reasonable to consider time constraints when doing any form of mixed methods research, given how time-demanding such studies can be. I have had students who were in exactly the same position and what I recommended was to produce the desired quantitative instrument in a form that could be pre-tested. If possible, a pre-test with 20 or so participants would be even better, but that still might not be possible within your time limits.

Is it necessary to validate using Cronbach the quantitative instruments (questionnaires) of the Sequential MMR Design? I have used Pilot study, cognitive interview, expert interviews, and subject matter experts.

Once you have created the scale, you should indeed use coefficient alpha to assess its reliability.

I have another question Professor. When using Exploratory Sequential Mixed Method Design (QUAL-quant) and decided or plan to use a JOINT DISPLAY TABLE (JDT) to merge the two datasets. Obvious, the first column with an overarching theme, second column with the interviewee statement or quote, third column with documentary review quote followed by the quantitative scores. My question here are:

1. Is it necessary to have another column with Meta inference at the end?

2. If I have meta inference at the end column of the JDT, is it necessary to have another section which interprets the synthesized findings?

3. Is there any other way of merging the two research strands (findings) apart from using the JDT. Especially when you are using Exploratory Sequential MM Design (QUAL-quant) for the purpose of expanding not testing.

First, I do not think that you need to include a meta-inference when you are doing something as straight forward as a sequential exploratory design.

Second, I do not see any reason to report means and std. deviations on individual items, especially when you are using an ordinal measure such as a Likert-scored item (although that is appropriate when you are reporting on the full, multi-item scales).
