I recently read a paper in which interdigital transducer is used as the electrode for voltage measurement. It sandwiched between a piezoresistor and the substrate. From my understanding, the transducer converts the electrical signal to mechanical deformation, the piezoreisitor convert mechanical signal to electrical signal. While in the design, they use the piezoresistor to measure the deformation of the substrate which is subject to stress. So I was wondering why the interdigital transducer is included.  The paper I was mentioning is "INKJET PRINTING OF CARBON NANOTUBE-POLYIMIDE NANOCOMPOSITE STRAIN SENSOR". Thanks!
