Dear Sir, The use of ursodeoxycholic acid is an option to use along with the antibacterial treatment and control of sepsis ---- that is ---- the control of sepsis to be as main line attention to treat and protect the patient and then may be with ursodeoxycholic acid as if necessary to be done. Thanks
ursodeoxycholic acid is a chelator of bile acids, has cytoprotective and immunomodulatory effects, it has been used to treat cholestatic diseases .it could be considered for sepsis-induced cholestasis , but no data currently support such an assertion.
My opinion is that, Ursodeoxycholic acid didn´t induce sepsis once gastro-intestinal stasis is one of the trigger factors of cholestasis that colaborate with increase in bacterial degradation in cholestasis pathology, then sepsis is an associated opportunist secondary event in this case.
