We are studying the thermogravimetric behaviour of ceramic (Calcium doped Bismuth Ferrite) samples. The overall weight change is < 0.5 %. All the measurements were carried out in air atmosphere. The measurements were carried out in platinum pan from 25 - 800 deg C. What we have observed is the contradictory trend of TG signal on two different systems. When the measurements were carried out on Perkin Elmer's Diamond TG/DTA system, it shows a weight loss while when the same sample is measured on Netzsch STA 449 F3 simultaneous thermal analyzer, it shows a weight gain. The nature of weight gain / loss is also not the same. We have carefully repeated the base line and sample measurements multiple times and the results are reproducible. Can any one of you please help me in understanding these unusual results?
