Does anyone have experience with problems during extraction of viral DNA using the Qiagen QIAmp DNA Blood Kit,
1) especially concerning the accuracy and reproducibility extracting viral standards?
2) avoiding the risk of contaminations?
We use this kit to extrat DNA from blood of HBV patients. The Human genomic and viral DNA are extracted, and subjected to further assay. May be I did not get your point.
In our case, the kit is reliable. And there is no contamination if follow the product protocls. Or could you give more details of your problem ?
Did you run a gel of your extracted DNA or do a spec test on it? That will inform you if your extraction was successful or not
Thank you for your attention. Extracted nucleic acids are analyzed by qPCR downstream. Usually the kit works nice in my case as well. Just sometimes results are not as expected, although applying the same protocol allways. So what could be the reason for false postive signals for example?
False signals can arise from cross contamination either from your work station, reagents or working materials and equipments
